Q: Do I have to use the alterations service at the bridal salon?
A: No, you don’t, and it could save you big bucks to use a local, independent seamstress instead. Ask around, check out Google reviews, and schedule a likely free first consultation with independent seamstress.
If you purchased your gown at a bridal salon, most likely the salon might offer alterations to get done there.

To make a right decision keep in mind following:

  • The number one business for bridal salons is to sell dresses. Alterations is an additional service. And you have no idea about rating and review for this service.

Q: Which is the Best? An independent Wedding Alterations specialist or the Bridal Shop Alteration Seamstress? Or Why choose an independent Wedding Alterations specialist?
A: Because you want the professional who you can trust to do the job. Simple, isn’t it!? An independent seamstress who has her own business is committed to making you happy! It’s not like full or part time job for a bridal store with $10/hour poor compensation. No doubt, an independent seamstress will go out of her way to get work perfectly done.
Remember you have made a large investment in your wedding gown, so make sure that you use the most skilled person to work on it. Dress alterations isn’t less important than finding your dress to buy. Plus, you save money on your alterations, because an independent seamstress charges more affordable price than a bridal store does. So, just google for “wedding alterations near me”, read reviews and choose a reputable one, not the one that quotes you the lowest rate. You get what you pay for. And remember, this isn’t a job for your local dry cleaner.

Q: Do I need to make an appointment?

A: Yes, you need to make an appointment for your convenience. We are small family business and we work in a private home-based working studio. An appointment lasts for about an hour and often all available time booked in advance.

Q: When do you recommend scheduling my first appointment?
A: For brides we recommend to start 2-3 months before the wedding date. Bridesmaids and special occasion should start 6-8 weeks before the event date.

Q: Could I get free estimate for my dress alterations over the phone?
A: You’ll get free estimate but not over the phone or email. We need to see the actual dress and see how it currently fits your body to determine EXACTLY what needs to be done and give you an accurate estimate. Describing the dress over the phone or sending pictures are not really helpful. Schedule Your Appointment & Get Free Estimate

Q: How much would it cost to alter my dress?
A: We’ll be more than happy to give you a price range before you get started, but we cannot give you a price or estimate for your gown alterations without seeing it in person. Everybody and every body is different. Complexity of each dress is different as well. The cost of alterations is based on the complexity and difficulty of each task. Read more

Q: Could I pay for dress alterations by credit/debit card?
A: No, sorry for that. We accept only cash and checks.

Q: When do I pay for alterations?
A: Your full payment is due at the second appointment.

Q: What should I expect at my first fitting appointment?
A: The first appointment is mostly about getting down to business and making sure everything is taken care of. You'll try your dress on, and a seamstress will pin what needs to be taken in or let out and pin the hemline to show you the best alterations for a perfect fit. Your free estimate will be done, and you’ll know how much your dress alteration costs. If you decide to get started, you leave your dress and we'll schedule your second fitting appointment.
Remember, during your fittings, make sure you wear the same underwear, shapewear and accessories you plan to wear on the actual wedding day. Don’t forget to bring your shoes you plan to wear with your dress. Different shoes and undergarments drastically change the fit of the dress.

Q: How long does the first fitting appointment take?
A: Your first appointment takes about an hour for wedding gowns and a bit less for bridesmaid or formal dresses.

Q: What should I expect at the second fitting appointment?
A: Typically, the alteration process takes two fitting appointments, but sometimes it requires three. You’ll see the work that has been done on your dress. You’ll try your dress on and make sure that all your concerns from the first fitting have been fixed, you can move comfortably in your gown, your dress stays in place as you move. If we see something that needs to be fixed, we schedule another appointment.
Remember, during your fittings, make sure you wear the same underwear, shapewear and accessories you plan to wear on the actual wedding day. Don’t forget to bring your shoes you plan to wear with your dress.

Q: What if I decided to cancel my first appointment?
A: We would appreciate if you let us know about your decision in advance. We are waiting for you. There is no obligation from your side but it's so easy to give us a call or send a text about cancelling or rescheduling your appointment.

Q: What if I change my mind about the length, fit or other details of my dress that needed to alter at the second fitting appointment?
A: You are responsible for the requirements to your dress we agreed during your first appointment. If you want to change some parts of the work that have been done, you need to pay additional cost for additional alterations.
