Cottage cheese is probably one of the best foods in the planet: low in calories, high in protein, healthy andp affordable. What is more, cottage cheese is so versatile that comes in very handy for many different recipes. Both sweet and savory.

Up until a year ago I was veeery skeptical about using cottage cheese for sweet recipes. But after making my low carb Syrniki protein pancakes, I quickly changed my mind. Needless to say, I became addicted to cottage cheese and now I have it with fruit, jam...and chocolate! Trust me, if you've never had cottage cheese in sweet recipes before, this is your sign to try it. Honestly, it's a game changer!

This recipe is embarrassingly simple and minimalistic. You only need 3 ingredients to make chocolate protein mousse without protein powder:

  • Cottage cheese: this chocolate protein mousse can be prepared with either full-fat or low-fat cottage cheese. Although both are great, the full-fat version will add a richer taste.
  • Cocoa powder: use natural, unprocessed cocoa powder for a healthier protein mousse without added sugars.
  • Preferred sweetener: for a sugar-free chocolate mousse, this recipe uses erythritol. You can replace it with any sweetener of your choice, such as maple syrup, honey, coconut sugar or brown sugar.

  • 220 grams (1 cup) cottage cheese

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 1 to 3 tbsp preferred sweetener (to taste)

Directions
